APPLE CRISP
- 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Topping:
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Prepare the Apples:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Make the Topping:
- In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the melted butter over the oat mixture and stir until it forms a crumbly texture.
Assemble and Bake:
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serve:
- Let the apple crisp cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
