GARLIC PARMESAN POPCORN

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
Instructions
Pop the Popcorn:
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover with a lid.
- Shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning. The popcorn will start popping within a few minutes.
- Once the popping slows down to a few seconds between pops, remove the pot from heat.
Prepare the Garlic Butter:
- While the popcorn is popping, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant and slightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Combine and Season:
- Pour the popped popcorn into a large bowl.
- Drizzle the garlic butter evenly over the popcorn, tossing to coat.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and optional dried herbs and red pepper flakes over the popcorn.
- Toss the popcorn again to distribute the seasoning evenly.
Serve:
- Transfer the popcorn to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately!
